The wonderful Navratri days are over. The nine days celebrating the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. Like all temples honouring the diety, our Panniankara Durga Devi temple too left no holds barred in ensuring that the celebrations were top notch. The temple was decorated to the hilt. Felt really blessed that I was able to get darshan on all the days in the morning and evening. The Goddess looked divinely beautiful, thanks to our thantri who took such loving care in the alankarams. The evening visits to the temple were lively with all of us friends dressed in the navratri colours of each day. For many years now, the expenses for the Poojas on each of the nine days is being met by nine families in Panniankara. The last day's Pooja, Vijayadashami, is conducted by all devotees contributing their mite.

This year's worship was special with Arun being able to sing a few bhajans before the diety. He says that it's always a different feeling singing here. It evokes a whole new range of emotions.

The feast provided to devotees on Vijayadashami day was a treat to the taste buds.

The lamps have dimmed, the Thayambaka has wound down, the clattering of pots in the temple kitchen is no more. But Bhagavathy is there in all her glory, casting her merciful eyes on all who seek her darshan. It is up to us to continue to maintain the charged and positive navaratri vibes at the temple, by going there more and more often and not waiting for the next navaratri to come around
